Nightingale Tea Bowls
Porcelain
7.5 x 7.5
2020
Up and down the UK, potters have been producing work to sell for NHS charities. I set myself the challenge to throw 100 porcelain tea bowls, decorated with a nightingale and glazed in a pale blue/cream celadon. The design is based on a Japanese sencha tea bowl known for its health benefits.

As many during lockdown, I had a sense of wanting to help support the efforts of frontline staff. The fast setup of the Nightingale hospital at ExCeL London had been inspiring to see and this gave me the idea for the theme of the bowl.

Each tea bowl measures on average 7.5 x 7.5cm and is hand-signed and numbered. There are only 100 bowls available.

NHS Charities Together represent, champion and support the work of more than 140 member NHS Charities which give over £1m every day to the NHS to enhance patient experience and care.

To support this campaign, there is a suggested minimum donation of £25 for one of the tea bowls. All profits (a minimum of £23.50) will go directly to the charities.

Please note the initial run of 100 bowls are now sold out, raising £3850 in less than 24 hours. If you would like to be kept updated or support a 'second run' please email nightingale@stpaulsschool.org.uk
