Watchers in the woods.
These small figurines are the latest work in a response to medieval imagery, developed from my own take on the Lewis Chessmen.
Reading about Mokujiki, the Japanese, Edo Century monk and sculptor who would carve and leave his work on the trail of his pilgrimage, I leave these markers on wanderings. Enjoying the idea of the figures being returned to the earth and being chanced on and wondered at by others.
